Description: Renowned violinist Michael Gilbert will present a master class at 5pm on December 9th in the Recital Hall. Admission is free.

In a career spanning 25 years as a member of the New York Philharmonic, Mr. Gilbert performed under Leonard Bernstein, Pierre Boulez, Zubin Mehta and Kurt Masur. He began his career as concertmaster of the American Symphony Orchestra under Leopold Stokowski and later was appointed concertmaster of the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra. Mr. Gilbert has conducted in Boston and in New York at the Juilliard School and Manhattan School of Music. Internationally, he has conducted in Spain and Japan and is also Music Director of the Music Masters Course in Kazusa, Japan. His daughter, Jennifer, is concertmaster of the National Orchestra in Lyon, France and his son, Alan, is Music Director of the New York Philharmonic.
