Scheduling Events During Commencement Week
To the campus community;
This is a friendly reminder that during the week of May 10 through May 17, 2010 all facilities on the University of the Pacific Stockton Campus are reserved for Commencement activities. This includes all buildings, open spaces, athletic facilities, roadways, and recreation facilities. This rule applies to all events - private family gatherings, awards ceremonies, year end events, alumni events, school and college events, and division events.
Because of this, no other activities or events may be planned during this time without the approval of the Commencement Office.
The reason for this rule is that during commencement week, our physical plant employees are stretched to their maximum capacity and can not adequately service non-commencement activities during this time period without affecting the quality of graduation ceremonies. Additionally, the University needs the flexibility to be able to quickly move official commencement events on a moments notice if an emergency arises such as severe weather or unexpectedly large crowds at specific events.
If you have further questions about this reminder or believe that you have an event that must take place during Commencement week and would like to secure a venue, please contact:
Steven Whyte, Director of University Events, at 209.946.2753 or swhyte@pacific.edu.
We appreciate your cooperation with this rule and in helping make Pacific's annual Commencement ceremonies a memorable one for students and their families.
