California Delta covers more than 1,000 miles of waterways covering 738,000 acres in six counties in Northern California.
The convergence of five major rivers, the Delta carries 47% of California's water runoff. The Delta is also home to:
- 230 species of birds
- 150 species of flowering plants
- 52 species of fish
- 45 species of mammals
You can participate in a variety of water-related activities on the Delta including:

- Sailing (one of the most respected places to get sailing certification is in the deep water channel of the San Joaquin River because of the wide variety of wind conditions)
