Pacific Field Hockey:Muhl Makes Mark in History

(November 5, 2009) -

Pacific field hockey senior Lisa Muhl (Harleysville, Pa.) was named the NorPac Conferences first West Defensive Player of the Year Wednesday night. She and fellow seniors Katy McDonough (Ventura, Calif.) and Kiddy Leubane (Capetown, South Africa) rounded out the Tigers named to All-Conference teams.

Muhl earned the top defensive title after leading the league in defensive saves. She is among the national leaders in the stat with eight. After setting a personal single season record this year, Muhl became Pacifics all-time career defensive saves leader with 19. She was also named to the second team all-conference for the second consecutive year.

McDonough was the only Tiger to make the first team all-conference. The 4-time all-conference player earned her second consecutive first team nod after grabbing three goals and five assists in 12 games this season. Her 22 goals and 18 assists over the past four years have cemented her presence in Pacific history. She sits firmly in second place on the Tigers all-time offense list with 61 points.

Leubane was named to the second team all-conference. The 2007 goals leader is second on the team in goals this year with five. She returned to the field after taking off the 2008 season. The 2-time all-conference player is in eighth place on Pacifics all time offense list. Leubane earned NorPac West Offensive Player of the Week honors after scoring the eventual game-winning goal conference rival UC Davis.

Pacific will be looking to these incredible athletes on Thursday as they face off against Longwood University in the first round of the conference tournament at 11 a.m. A win would put the Tigers into the semifinals against the winner of the No. 15 Stanford, Appalachian State game.
