Theta Tau
() -
On November 21st, 2009, the Grand Regent initiated fifteen of Pacific's SOECS students as the founding class of the University of the Pacific Colony of Theta Tau. Seventeen brothers from Davis and five Theta Tau alumni in the area witnessed the important day for the founding class. As the nation's oldest and largest co-ed professional engineering fraternity, Theta Tau is a strong addition to a campus rich in Greek life, but lacking an engineering fraternity.
The purpose of Theta Tau is to develop and maintain a high standard of professional interest among its members and to unite them in a strong bond of fraternal fellowship. Just this past semester, the brothers have participated in wide scope of events such as volunteering at the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) hosted by IBM, spam musubi fundraisers, and intramural dodgeball/wallyball.
Next semester the newly instated colony will be hosting professional development nights and service projects throughout the semesters to promote and celebrate engineering. And of course, their social events will create brotherhood bonds. With their advisor Dr. Gary Martin, they aim to be a dynamic force in the engineering community here at Pacific.
Any student enrolled in the School of Engineering and Computer science is eligible to pledge Theta Tau. Prospective members should look forward Theta Tau's rush week next semester. Here's a tentative schedule:
Tuesday February 2 - Info Night/Meet the Brothers
Wednesday February 3 - Professional Development Night
Thursday February 4 - Interviews
Friday February 5 - Interviews
Saturday, February 6 - Dinner/Social Night (Invite Only)
