Costs/Fees
The cost of education abroad is comparable to the cost of attending Pacific. The main added cost is airfare, which IPS currently provides scholarships for with a select number of exchange programs (see the Education Abroad Advisor's door in Bechtel for an up-to-date "Free Airfare" list).
Financial aid, including loans, scholarships, grants and tuition remission, may apply toward the costs of semester and full year options. Please check with the Financial Aid office in Knoles to find out about the continuation of your financial aid package.
Below is a list of the typical costs involved for an education abroad student along with information regarding when and to whom payment is due. Please note the difference for summer versus semester and full year terms abroad.
Semester or Full Year
- Pacific Tuition- charged to student account as usual
- Education Abroad Administration Fee- charged to student account once complete program application has been submitted to IPS
- Program Application Fees and Deposits- paid to program provider prior to departure
- Program Room & Board Fees- paid to program provider or landlord, usually due upon arrival
- Books & Supplies, Lab Fees- paid to the university or study center while abroad
- International Round-trip Airfare & Local Transportation- paid when booking flight; paid while abroad
- Miscellaneous Fees (typically includes items such as visa, student activity, required cell phone, health insurance, and passport fees)- paid to the appropriate entity prior to departure and/or while abroad
- Personal Expenses- paid while abroad
Summer
- All Program Fees (including Room & Board)- paid to program provider and landlord prior to departure and upon arrival
- Program Application Fee and Deposits- paid to program provider prior to departure
- Books & Supplies, Lab Fees- paid to university or study center while abroad
- International Round-trip Airfare & Local Transportation- paid when booking flight; paid while abroad
- Personal Expenses- paid while abroad
