Planning

Educational programs at Pacific are developed and delivered in the context of the University's Mission. Supporting administrative services are designed and offered in the same context of the mission.

On April 27, 2007, the Board of Regents approved Pacific Rising, the University's strategic planning document through 2015. The document offers six primary Commitments that focus strategy and resource allocation. There are 20 specific Strategic Directions that support the six Commitments. The Strategic Action Plan is updated yearly.

The Institutional Priorities Committee is the University's primary planning and budgeting body and serves the University by:

• managing University planning and budgeting;
• advising the President about University priorities; and
• annually developing and disseminating ongoing Planning Assumptions.

• analytical data management for both internal and external information reporting needs;
• strategic and tactical planning support; and
• investigation of the processes of higher education.

The Provost oversees a program of learning outcomes assessment which measures the effectiveness of educational programs in helping students learn. The Office of Assessment supports program assessment, the direct assessment of student learning, and institutional accreditation.

On an ongoing basis, the University evaluates academic, academic support, and non-academic programs to validate their quality and alignment with university goals and strategic priorities. This Program Planning and Review occurs through an annual reporting cycle overseen by the divisional vice presidents as well as periodic self-study.

In addition, the Provost oversees planning processes related to technology, innovation, accreditation.
