Internship Program

Pacific's Counseling Services provides clinical services to Pacific students, and your internship experience and training focuses on the college-age population.

Pacific's Counseling Center is an APPIC member (Program Code #127211). We are not APA accredited. As a pre-doctoral intern, our goal is to help you become a competent, culturally sensitive, entry-level "generalist." Pacific's internship program gives interns increased confidence in your ability as a psychologist.

Training Available

We train interns in:

  • Individual, couples, and group psychotherapy.
  • Emergency and assessment services.
  • Outreach and consultation services.

We offer interns a variety of seminars to help you hone other professional competencies. We are committed to promoting excellence and competence with psychological skill levels, and strive to provide experiences that allow for interpersonal depth and enhanced clinical ability within a humanistic framework. The internship year is an opportunity to further hone specialty areas, and concentration and emphasis on these areas is encouraged and supported through the training model.

The internship program includes a clinical caseload, individual supervision, training supervision, psychological assessment, outreach and consultation.

Applying for an Internship 

The Internship Application period for the 2010 - 2011 academic year is closed. We will be accepting new Intern applications as follows:

All applications for 2011 - 2012 Internships must be electronically submitted through APPIC by our due date of Friday, November 5, 2010.  In order to be considered you must:

  1. Complete the APPI found on the APPIC website then click on the 'APPI On-Line' and follow instructions outlined at the Applicant portal.
  2. In your cover letter, please explain why you believe you would be a good fit with the internship program at University of the Pacific Counseling Services.  Be specific about your goals for internship and how our program - in particular - will help you meet these goals.  Be sure to include your email address.
  3. Three letters of reference should be submitted with at least two from licensed psychologists who have supervised your clinical work.  References should reflect your most recent work if possible.

It is important that you follow these instructions or your application may be disqualified.
