Jazz it Up!

For some unknown reason, there seems to be an unusual number of jazz festivals within a two-hour drive of Stockton.

Maybe it's the influence of University of the Pacific alumnus Dave Brubeck.

Maybe it's the wonderful natural settings that attract the jazz musician types.

Who knows? Anyway, here's a list of the jazz festivals and venues that can be found in our area:

Brubeck Institute Stockton Held at Pacific's Stockton campus, this annual event features musical performances of jazz, contemporary concert music, lectures, and symposia. Shasta Jazz Festival  "Swingin' on the River" Redding Three days and nights of unparalleled talent and a variety of jazz. Plus you'll get an authentic Cowboy breakfast, an old-fashioned hymn sing, and a whopper of a grande finale.

Sacramento Jazz Jubilee  Sacramento Here you have the largest traditional Dixieland jazz festival in the world, featuring more than 100 bands.
