Stockton hosts a semi-professional baseball team, the Stockton Ports  which is an Advanced Class A Affiliate of the Oakland Athletics baseball organization.

The Stockton Ports moved into a brand new waterfront stadium  for the 2005 season.

A new arena and conference hotel  has been built next to it.

Speaking of baseball — Stockton, also known as Mudville in the 1800's, was the setting for the famous baseball poem, Casey at the Bat.

If you are up for a short trip, there are many professional sports teams within driving distance of Stockton.
