Continuous Improvement

As an innovator and leader in higher education, Pacific strives to continually improve your opportunities for learning. We are currently developing our plans for the next 10 years so that we can bring you the best learning experiences possible. This includes building a new Biology Building, University Center, and more.

In the past, Pacific:

  • Provided the West Coast with its first medical school in 1858 (which later became part of Stanford and today is California Pacific Medical Center).
  • Became the first private coeducational campus in 1871.
  • Opened the first conservatory of music in 1878, the first of its kind west of the Mississippi River.
  • Was the first university in the nation to offer "cluster colleges."
  • Was the nation’s first to offer an undergraduate teacher corps program.
  • Was the first to send an entire class to an overseas campus.
  • Was the first to establish a Spanish-speaking inter-American college.
  • Was the first to offer a four-year graduation guarantee.
  • Was the first independent institution to match the Cal Grant, dollar for dollar.

Pacific continues to find ways to uniquely serve you.
