A Broad Selection of Courses

For a university of its size, Pacific is known for the comprehensive education if offers. The university gives you a broad selection of elective courses to chose from, beyond those required for your undergraduate degree, graduate degree  or professional programs. With nine schools and colleges and more than 80 majors and programs of study, University of the Pacific has that rare combination of small-university friendliness and programs found at much larger universities.

Pacific offers 25 different degrees. More than forty different inter-disciplinary courses are available to help students synthesize what they’ve learned and to apply that knowledge outside the boundaries of their major field.

Pacific is the only private school in the country with an enrollment of less than 10,000 students to offer as many as eight different professional schools. The others typically have between three and five schools.

Your formal education at University of Pacific consists of three parts:

  • The General Education program.
  • The major program or area of specialization.
  • Elective courses through which a student may pursue a variety of individual interests.

The departmental majors and professional degree programs are designed to give students either extended experience in an academic discipline or preparation for specific careers.

Almost every school offers real-world learning opportunities.
