Practical Learning at Pacific

One of the unique aspects of an education at Pacific is the emphasis on hands-on learning. There are a variety of practical, experiential learning opportunities at Pacific today, many of which are listed at right. More than forty different inter-disciplinary courses are also available to help students synthesize what they’ve learned and to apply that knowledge outside the boundaries of their major field.

Hands-on learning opportunities include:

  • Internships Earn credit for work experience.
  • Cooperative Education Integrating your classroom studies with paid work experiences.
  • Undergraduate Research Complete an original research project on or off campus.
  • Clinical experience Get clinical experience in rotations in dentistry, pharmacy or communication disorders.
  • Service Learning Apply what you learn to solve genuine community problems.
  • Practicum Put what you know to work on campus for credit.
  • Field work Get credit for field work.
  • Study abroad Travel to foreign countries and get credit while you are there.
  • Supervised teaching Practice teaching and get credit towards your Education major.
