Richard (Dick) Vargo is a Professor of Accounting in the Eberhardt School of Business. Dick has an undergraduate degree in Accounting from Marietta College, an MBA from Ohio University and a doctorate in Accounting from the University of Washington. Before coming to the University of the Pacific in 1981, Dick spent thirteen years at the University of Texas (Arlington), College of William & Mary and the University of Southern California holding a variety of administrative and faculty positions.

Dick has consulted to a variety of organizations in business, government, health care, and other fields.  He has authored or co-authored twenty books and numerous articles in the areas of accounting principles, budgeting, cost control, church management, and internal control.

Dick received an Accounting Faculty Merit Award from the California Society of Certified Public Accountants for his contributions to the development of accounting education in California through publications, innovation, and excellence in teaching.
