Feb. 1
The Modesto Bee had a story today on how Pacific was selected to help figure out how to teach social responsibility and ethics in all course work.
The Record had a small walk-up to this evening's speech by cartoonist Aaron McGruder.
The Record had a story that says Leroy Ornellas was appointed to a state board by Gov. Schwarzenegger. The story mentioned that Ornellas was once a regent at Pacific.
Feb. 2
The Record had a story on page B-1 about Aaron McGruder's appearance at Pacific Thursday night. It was promoted off their front page.
The Record had a story on the front of their business section about an investment fund at Pacific that will be run by students. It has $1 million in it. It was promoted off the front page.
Feb. 3
Business school professor Luann Bangsund was quoted in a story in the Record about the refinancing efforts of Pac-West in Stockton.
The Record had a story about all the events planned for Black History Month at Pacific.
Feb. 4
The Modesto Bee had a profile on Turlock Jr. High School teacher Emily Santos-Gomez, an alumna of Pacific.
The Northwest News in Woodinville, Washington, had a feature story on Pacific alumnus Richard Leahy. Leahy was appointed City Manager in that city.
The Longview Daily News in Washington had a short story on how Pacific alumnus Ryan P. Jurvakainen joined a law firm there.
The Albany Democrat Herald had a story about a new dental product that prevents tooth decay by killing specific bacteria on teeth. The system, called the CariFree, is being tested at Dugoni as well as in a few laboratories.
The Record had a photo of a father and daughter riding a tandem bike through the Pacific Stockton campus on Saturday.
Feb. 5
The Record had a story about Congressman Jerry McNerney and how busy he is trying to already fight off challenges from Republicans who think they can win back Pombo's old seat. In it, it said McNerney met with representatives from Pacific to discuss education issues last week.
The Record had a story about Pacific alumnus Herman Miller III, who is fighting the EPA because it forced him to move off his house boat that has been docked in the Mormon Slough for decades.

The Record had a story about the bilingual financial aid workshop held at Pacific Saturday.

The Sacramento Bee had a story on a high school mock trail contest that was held at McGeorge Wednesday.
Vida En Valle, a bilingual paper in Northern California, had a story about the bilingual financial aid event held last Saturday at Pacific.
The Bloomberg News, a wire news service for magazines and businesses, quoted McGeorge professor Julie Davies in a story about the class-action lawsuit filed in California against Wal-Mart. The story said the attorney in the suit rarely ever loses a case.
EMedia Wire, a news service for business publications, had a story that said McGeorge Alumnus Jason W. Schaff was recently named a new attorney for Klinedinst PC.
The Reno Gazette-Journal mentioned Dugoni alumnus Dan Mannikko in there mover's and shakers column. Mannikko recently completed advanced training at the renowned Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies.
The Record recommended that the public see "To Kill a Mockingbird" when it is shown at Pacific Theater at 8 p.m. tonight.
Feb. 9
The Modesto Bee had a story about a company called Edifi which charges money to parents to help find financial aid. The story talked about how companies like that are usually frauds. It also said that most respectable universities, such as University of the Pacific, have financial aid officers that will do the same services for free and with better results.
The Record had a story that said former drug Czar Lee Brown is speaking at Pacific today.
The Contra Costa Times quoted Sean Snaith as saying that the recent housing slump has been overplayed by most analysts. The story also referenced Pacific's Business Forecasting Center.
Feb. 10
The Lodi News-Sentinel had a story that said the man arrested in the drunk-driving death of Pacific employee Pierre Ackerman was ordered to stand trial Friday on second degree murder. He faces 15 years to life in prison.
The Lodi News-Sentinel had an editorial congratulating the Lodi High School Decathlon Team. They competed in a competition at Pacific last week.
Stacie Turks, who oversees University of the Pacific's counseling services, was quoted in a Record story about ways to talk to teens about troubling issues such as underage drinking and illegal drug use.
The Record covered an appearance by former drug czar Lee Brown at Lincoln High School. The story discussed how Brown was in town to speak at Pacific.
Suzanne B. Walchli, associate professor of marketing at University of the Pacific, was quoted in The Record about how most consumer assume that expensive wine is automatically better than lower-priced wine.
Feb. 11
Sean Snaith was quoted in The Argus, the Tri-Valley Herald and several other Tri-Valley owned papers in the Bay Area about the flat housing market.
Feb. 12
Pacific alumna Bonnie Anderson, president of the House of Deputies, one of two governing bodies of the Episcopal Church USA, was quoted in a story from the Lodi News-Sentinel about St. John's Episcopal Church debating over whether to split from the main church over disagreements over the new Fresno Bishop.
Carol Ann Hackley was quoted in a Lodi News-Sentinel story about this weekend's chocolate festival in Lodi.
A Pacific student and visiting professor Jean Marie Stratigos were both interviewed by Channel 10 about the survivors of torture study. It will either air at 11 p.m. tonight or tomorrow.
Feb. 13
Margee Ensign had an editorial printed in the Riverside Press Enterprise, one of the largest papers in Southern California - circulation of about 250,000.
Channel 10 posted their story about survivors of torture on their Web site this morning.
The Record had a small promo that said they will have a story about the Soul Food being served at Pacific during Black History Month.
The Record had a brief that announced that Martha Collins will read poetry at Pacific tonight.

The Record had a story on Rev. Gary Putnam's presentation as Abe Lincoln Tuesday at Pacific.
The Record had a feature story on the Soul Food luncheons being served at Pacific during Black History Month.
Feb. 15
The Record had a blurb in the paper about the documentary being shown Feb. 18 at Pacific Theater.
The Sacramento Bee had a story about how teachers at Goethe Middle School are trying to get it renamed after it was learned that Goethe believed in "Eugenics" or selective breeding. The story mentioned that Goethe received an honorary doctorates from Pacific and that another alumnus has requested Pacific to now withdraw that degree.
Feb. 16
The Merced Sun-Star had a roundup of Gordon Spencer's long legal career. Spencer was District Attorney for many years in that county. He also is a Pacific Alumnus. Spencer recently has been involved in several small scandals in Merced.
The Record had a brief on Sunday's world premier of a documentary. The premier will be held at Pacific.
Ruth Jones was quoted in a Record story today about additional arrests that were made in the assault on a security guard a few months ago.
The Sacramento Bee had a profile on Anthony Kennedy, Supreme Court Justice and former McGeorge Professor.
The Miami Herald had a news-obit on the death of Pacific alumnus and gay-rights activist William Edward ''Eddy'' McIntyre. McIntyre took his own life, the story said.
Larry Frederick was quoted in The Record about how the switch in daylight savings time (it starts earlier now) will reek havoc on computers.
The Chinese Pharmaceutical Association had a brief on how Thomas J. Long professor Dr. Xiaoling Li will speak at their upcoming conference in China in May.
Spectroscopy Now magazine had an article in its latest issue that quotes Pacific professor David Sparkman.

Business professor John Knight was quoted in a Record story about the rising number of foreclosures in the county.
The Record had a brief that promoted the screening of a new documentary at Pacific on Sunday.
Feb. 18.
The Record and Red Orbit, an online news magazine that focuses on science, ran a story that quoted retired Pacific pharmacy professor Jeff Jellin. The story looked at mistakes made by pharmacists and how new systems try to catch those errors.
Both the Record and Red Orbit had stories about the teacher of the year in San Joaquin County. The story quoted Education school dean Lynn Beck.
Feb. 18
The Cedar City Spectrum, located in Utah, quoted Pacific student Valerie Niles, about a program held at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival.
Feb. 19
The Record had a brief on how a blood drive will be held at the Baun Fitness Center later this week.
Feb. 20
The Record had a story about Pacific's inclusion in a study on teaching social responsibility in all course work.
Yahoo News service had a story from Florida that quoted Pacific alumna Sharon Wamble-King. She was appointed Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida's (BCBSF) vice president, corporate communications. Her association with Pacific was in the story.

Dean Lynn Beck was quoted in a story in The Record about the importance of mentors for new teachers.
The Sacramento Biz Journal had a profile on McGeorge Alumnus Luis Sanchez.
The Record had a story on the Black AIDS Awareness Day at Pacific this week, the first time this event is being held at the University.
The Record had a brief about the live acoustic music provided each Thursday in The Summit.

The Record had a brief noting that today is the last day of Soul Food Day in the Redwood Room, part of Black History Month.
FYI: The New York Times had an article on Whole Foods Market purchase of Wild Oats Markets. Company president and CO Walter Robb is an incoming Regent.
Feb. 23
The Los Angeles Times quoted McGeorge professor John E.B. Myers in a story about the proposed spanking ban in California.
All About Jazz magazine had a short walk-up to the upcoming Brubeck Festival.
The Record had a brief on "A Welsh Evening," an evening of Celtic entertainment, that will be held at Pacific March 4.
Feb. 24
The Record had a story about Pacific alumnus Michael Wrenn, a high school teacher in Tracy. It was a teacher profile.
The Modesto Bee had a story about a high school debate tournament in Concord last week. The story also said that University of the Pacific also hosted a high school debate tournament earlier this month.
Digital 50, the Business Wires and other wire services reported that Paul Lofholm, a professor at the Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, was named pharmacist of the year by the California Pharmacists Association.
Good Day Sacramento did a live interview of a Gospel singer as a promotion to Pacific's Gospel Fest, held Saturday afternoon.
Feb. 25
The Vacaville Reporter had a brief that said Dugoni alumnus and retired Navy Captain Raymond Graves turned 100 over the weekend.
The Record had a story on Black Family Heritage Day held at Pacific on Saturday.

Feb. 27
The Record quoted Carol Ann Hackley in the story today about the Port of Stockton withdrawing its plans to hose the USS Iowa. Hackley is president of the Stockton Council of the Navy League of the United States.
The Record had a brief this morning that said several departments at Pacific will host a presentation by the head of the Stanislaus PRIDE Center tomorrow.
The Standard, an English-language business paper in China, ran a Sacramento Bee story that quoted McGeorge professor John Myers on the failed spanking bill.
Feb. 28
The Seattle Times had an obit on McGeorge Alumnus Russell C. Brooks. Brooks was a nationally well-known attorney who fought the Endangered Species Act as a violation of property rights and "over-reaching government influence." He died of a heart attack at age 41.
The Record had a story today about a new soccer academy for children. The academy plays every Sunday at Brookside Field on the Stockton campus.
The Bangor Daily News in Maine had a feature on Pacific Alumna Deb Neuman. She hosts a radio program called "Back to Business" and recently was named "Small Business Journalist of the Year" by the U.S. Small Business Administration. He association with Pacific was mentioned fairly high in the story.
The Record quoted Dean Chuck Williams about the 400 point drop in the stock market.
