Conservatory of Music

Course Requirements

Bachelor of Music,
Major in Music Education: Instrumental

In order to earn the bachelor of music degree with a major in music education (concentration in instrumental), students must complete a minimum of 124 units with a Pacific cumulative and program grade point average of 2.0.

Note: Music Education majors must present a half recital, usually in their senior year. 2) Music Education majors with voice as a principal instrument are required to complete a senior examination during the final year. 3) Teaching Credential candidates must demonstrate an understanding of the U.S. Constitution through coursework or examination. They must demonstrate competency in reading, writing and math by passing the CBEST Examination. 4) Music Education majors not working toward a teaching credential may substitute free elective courses to complete the required 124 units for the Bachelor of Music degree. 5) Students who become interns may substitute electives for the student teaching in the fourth year. 6) Major Ensembles must relate to the student’s proposed teaching area as specified by advisers. 7) Residency requirements in Solo Class, Major Ensemble and Lab Ensemble may be waived when in conflict with student teaching.
