Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences
How To Apply
Separate applications to the Pharm.D. and Ph.D. degree programs are required for the combined program, although the two letters of recommendation and official undergraduate transcripts submitted for the Pharm.D. component are used for the Ph.D. component, and the application fee to the Graduate School (Ph.D. program) is waived.
In addition to the materials required by the Pharm.D. application, the combined Pharm.D./Ph.D. application requires four additional items:
- the completed "Application for Graduate School" form
- a letter from the applicant stating goals relative to a teaching and/or research career
- GRE scores on the General test
- a third letter of recommendation from an individual familiar with the applicant's research abilities or potential. If a letter regarding research abilities is already a part of the Pharm.D. application, a third letter from any individual familiar with academic abilities will suffice. Applicants must be admitted to the Pharm.D. program before they can be considered for admission to the Ph.D. aspect of the program. Therefore, the application to the graduate component (Ph.D.) has no influence on admission to the professional component (Pharm.D.).
A maximum of five individuals will be accepted into the combined Pharm.D./Ph.D. program each year.
Applications to the Ph.D. component must be completed by February 1st to be considered for the entering class each Fall.
The GRE scores will be accepted after the February 1 deadline, but only if the Graduate School is informed of the delay and if received by April 1.
