FAQ
Why should a Pre-Pharmacy student be interested in the Pharm.D./MBA Program?
Pharmacy graduates with a joint Pharm.D./MBA degree enhance their career opportunities in management positions that demand intricate knowledge of both health sciences and management.
Graduates with these qualifications can achieve senior management positions in the pharmaceutical industry, such as a department director in a health care organization, in the pharmaceutical research and testing industry, and in a major retail pharmaceutical chain.
The business skills acquired in the MBA Program provide a sound basis for operating an independent pharmacy with its sophisticated technology and complex health care management.
PrePharmacy students in the 3+3 program at Pacific take three years to complete the Pharm.D. prerequisites and three more years to complete the Doctor of Pharmacy program.
With careful planning the MBA Program can be completed with only one more semester of study.
The joint health care MBA affords an opportunity for PrePharmacy students to take undergraduate courses comparable to Phase I MBA courses prior to enrolling in advanced Pharmacy study and to complete advanced specialized health care MBA courses during their Pharm.D. program.
After completing the Pharm.D. program and sitting for the Pharmacy Board examination, the MBA can be completed in an additional semester of coursework taken in full-time or part-time study.
How does the program differ for transfer PrePharmacy students?
Students who complete their prepharmacy coursework at other institutions are eligible for admission to the Pharm.D./MBA program.
The program of study includes one full year of MBA courses followed by the regular Pharm.D. curriculum.
After receiving your Pharm.D. degree, you would enroll in five advanced MBA courses, completing both degrees in less than five calendar years.
